A 25-year-old man who is alleged to have caused the death of a two-year old-boy earlier this month has been remanded by the Suva Magistrates Court.
Josaia Vuetinibose appeared before Magistrate Deepika Prakash charged with one count of murder.
The prosecution requested the court if the accused could make a formal bail application at the High Court in Suva.
Ms Prakash transferred the matter to the High Court in Suva.
Police had reported that the matter came to light after the child passed away at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital on February 15, 2020.
It had said that the accused, a family friend, had allegedly looked after the child on the day he fell ill.
The child’s parents took him to the Valelevu Health Center and he was transferred to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital where he was admitted for a short while until he passed away, Police had said.
The case has been adjourned to March 11.
