Court finds taxi driver guilty of raping a teenager

Update: 6:55PM A TAXI driver has been found guilty and convicted of raping a 16-year-old student at Suva Point back in 2016.
The 33-year-old who was convicted of one count of rape appeared before High Court judge Justice Salesi Temo this afternoon.
In his judgement, Justice Temo said the accused exploited the naive nature of the complainant.
While making the prosecution’s sentencing submission, State lawyer Lavenia Bogitini asked the high court to impose an imprisonment term of 12 to 14 years for the accused.
The accused has been remanded in custody.
Justice Temo will deliver his sentence next Monday.
