Countries share bond

Update: 3:42PM THE Indian High Commission marked the country’s 69th Republic Day celebrations at Novotel Hotel in Lami last night.
India’s high commissioner to Fiji Vishvas Sapkal said the day was commemorated to honour the nation and its sovereignty.
“India is a committed partner in Fiji’s development process,” Mr Sapkal said.
“The two countries share a special bond, and we are now engaged in the process of building a modern multi-faceted partnership.”
In a statement, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said he was optimistic Fiji and India would continue to explore new opportunities for their people to expand co-operation ties.
“I extend my warm and heartfelt congratulations to you and the people of India on the occasion of the 69th Republic Day of India,” Mr Bainimarama said.
“Our two countries are bound by historical ties, friendship, mutual respect, growing interest in each other’s culture and increasingly stronger bilateral relations in numerous areas of our economic, socio-cultural and governance sectors.”
