AFTER a lapse of six years, the Sigatoka Town Council is working on reviving the Coral Coast Carnival.
CEO Tulsi Ram said it was about time the popular fete was brought back.
“We are looking forward to reviving this carnival,” he said.
“We want to see people come forward and we need to do this soon. The last carnival was held at Lawaqa Park in 2009. So far, we have received a lot of support from hoteliers, business houses and the wider community for the carnival and fun activities it will bring to town.”
Though a specific date has not been set aside, Mr Ram said preparations were in progress for the carnival to be held soon, with next month being a possibility to coincide with Sigatoka Day.
“At the moment, we are still on the lookout for sponsorship and proceeds raised from the carnival will be given back to Sigatoka in the form of development.”
Mr Ram said aspiring retailers for the carnival should also begin preparations.
“The same goes for girls who want to be contestants in the carnival pageant. They should get ready to audition soon,” he said.
