Council finalises plans

THE Construction Industry Council (CIC) is now finalising plans for its three-day conference in June which will culminate discussions concerning the local construction industry.

According to CIC president Gordon Jenkins, the council recently had a meeting with executives from Warwick Resort along the Coral Coast which will be the venue of the conference.

“We see this conference as an important event on the construction calendar addressing a number of issues that are negatively affecting our industry,” Mr Jenkins said.

“We need to fix these problems and believe that the conference will provide an important vehicle towards this end.”

Scheduled for June 14 to 16, Mr Jenkins said a major part of the conference would be a tradeshow to be held under a tent adjacent to the resort’s 400-seat conference centre.

“There has already been substantial interest in the tradeshow from companies in both New Zealand and Australia as well as locally. We expect a number of companies to exhibit,” he said.

Mr Jenkins added that a special mailing would soon be sent out as part of a major ongoing promotion to encourage those in the industry, Government and suppliers to book early for the conference.
