Montpellier Club and former Scotland head coach Vern Cotter has been appointed the new head coach for the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians.
The two time Super Rugby and Top 14 championship winner will take the reins of the Flying Fijians program upon finalisation of his commitments with Montpellier.
The announcement was made earlier today by Fiji Rugby Union chairman Commander Francis Kean.
At a glance:
-The New Zealander started his playing career as a number 8 for counties Manukau where he played for 10 years between 1980 to 1990.
-He spent the next ten years of his playing career at a number of French clubs which included Rumily, FC Lourdes and Saint-Junien.
-The 58-year-old started his coaching career in 2000 when he took up the job at Bay of Plenty.
-After spending four years as head coach, he then moved to the Crusaders in 2005 as the Forwards coach where he won two titles with the team in 2005 and 2006.
-The six feet four inches lanky coach then moved to France where he coached Clermont for eight years.
-He then took up the job as Scotland’s head coach in 2014 and guided them at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
-He currently coaches the Montpellier side in France and will finish in June this year after which he will take care of the Fijian national team.
