THE Fiji Corrections Service has endured challenges over the years, but continues to do many great things as a result of hard work.

These were the sentiments of the permanent secretary of Foreign Affairs, Ioane Naivalurua, during the Corrections Day celebration which also commemorated 144 years of service held at the Naboro Corrections Complex last Friday.

Mr Naivalurua said there were many reasons to celebrate and many years ago he too shared the hardships with the men and women of the corrections service.

“Where we are now is a result of all your hard work and with the understanding you all have on the requirement to serve,” Mr Naivalurua said. He reminded the officers that only tough men and women continued to be at the top.

“We are loyal to the call of serving and this means getting the job done through standards and discipline,” he said. To date, the FCS has 791 corrections officers
