Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said blue finance was the next big drive ahead for Fiji and Pacific Island leaders.

Commenting on the $US100billion climate fund, he said our ocean deserved an increasing share of climate finance.

“But just as importantly, the overall pool of finance needs to increase given the need to mitigate but particularly, the need to adapt is going to exponentially rise over this decade,” Mr Bainimarama said at the Blue Charter event, held on the side of COP26 in Glasgow.

“Our task at COP26 is to establish in clear and collective terms, where the Ocean Pathway, which Fiji launched at COP26, can lead us.

“We should all leave Glasgow knowing what path we are on and what path we should be on.”
