Kava dealers in Nadi Town say the recent lockdown and ongoing COVID-19 containment measures are impacting on domestic and export trade.

Qio Kava Fiji managing director Zurin Ali also said the reduction in bus services was causing a big dent in business.

“Because buses are no longer operating, my customers from the interior of Nadi are not able to make their way here,” she said.

Ms Ali said the containment was impacting their ability to sustain their business.

“I have an order for one tonne of kava for export, however, my husband and I are not able to travel to Savusavu to inspect the waka.

“My customers from the interior who sell $2 or $5 kava packs from home are not able to travel to the market as well.

“If the containment continues, I don’t know how long we will be able to last.”
