THE Consumer Council of Fiji has received reports of consumers blindly signing agreements without reading it first.
This has been a common problem in Labasa and traders were asked at a council workshop this morning to allow customers time to read and understand the agreement before it is signed.
Council northern coordinator Nanise Veikoso said they had also received complaints about landlords not issuing receipts to their tenants for payments of rent.
“Also know that there is a freeze on residential leases, which means that your landlords can’t increase your rent,” Ms Veikoso said.
