A CONGOLESE national who is alleged to have murdered his wife has pleaded not guilty.
Kiala Maracellino Henri Penakoy Lusaka, 39, appeared before High Court judge Justice Daniel Goundar today in Suva charged with one count of murder.
The alleged incident occurred in July at their home at Service St in Suva where the suspect allegedly murdered 44-year-old Jennifer Downes.
Before taking his plea, defence lawyer Krishneel Chang told the court that his client needed a French interpreter.
Mr Chang informed the court that his client understood English if the charges would be read out to him slowly.
The accused has been further remanded.
The case now will be called on October 25 for mention.
