THIRTY awards were given out to workers of Value City for their achievements in its annual awards night that was held in Suva on Saturday evening.
Value City South Pacific Ltd’s managing director Vera Chute said this was to acknowledge and appreciate the staff for their work last year.
“The awards are in different categories and some are for sales, some performance-based and others were for zero absence and down time,” Ms Chute said.
“This raises productivity and pride in the company and it has an impact when you recognise your employees.
“There is a category where I reward people who do not take their sick leave so we pay it all back to them and when the award started, there were only two winners, then it went to six winners and then eight so next year I might be awarding ten people.”
Ms Chute said they had about 150 workers in 12 branches across the country.
“There are some staff members that I was impressed with, they had joined our company for just a year and are being recognised and awarded and that is really inspirational.
“Our employee of the year has been with us for so long and is a very exemplary leader, he is our senior supervisor in the Western Division and even I rely a lot on his feedback.”
