Cyber Foods will now venture into delivering groceries from NEWWORLD supermarkets within the Suva containment zone.

This was revealed by the managing director Majid Shahzad who said they would soon deliver groceries around the country, once the containment restrictions were lifted.

“In 2021 I finally convinced NEWWORLD, I had multiple meetings with the directors,” he said.

“Most of the grocery shops they might face difficulties delivering groceries.

“After this second wave of COVID-19 we started getting orders, so we approached supermarkets basically to give them potential customers.”

Mr Shahzad said it would be hard for his team to wait in the queue, so he made arrangements with the supermarket to give them an opportunity to go into the supermarket to buy the groceries without lining up.

“Our staff are fully equipped with the app, they have their own sanitisers, masks and gloves.”

He said this method would be a great opportunity for the supermarkets to increase their revenue.

“With NEWWORLD we approached them in 2020, we basically proposed our business model.”

At that time he said there was not a strong need for deliveries however with the second wave of the pandemic started he said the supermarket saw the potential in Cyber Foods delivery service.

“We are starting in Suva within the containment areas and then definitely we will go all over Fiji.”

Mr Shahzad said consumers could reach out to them on their website or place their orders on their social media pages.

He said NEWWORLD IGA in Damodar City was where they would usually go to pick their inventory as they would have most of the items on the list.

He said once the shopping list was sent with the money they would proceed to purchase the goods and then deliver them to their customers.

Mr Shahzad also mentioned they had got quite a number of orders from overseas clients as well.

With the groceries service Cyber Food had become fully booked on most days as now they have also added popular restaurants such as Wishbone on to their platform.

He said this had resulted in an increase in customers orders. Wishbone was not the only dining option to come onboard as customers could also order from Peri Peri LunchBox, Niu Grillz, TJ’s to name a few.

The managing director said their app was undergoing some maintenance however orders could be placed through their website and social media pages.
