THE annual Hibiscus Festival is still likely to take place despite the change in management of the organising committee in recent months.

Dubbed as the “Mother of all Festivals”, the premium event was to be held in August this year.

Hibiscus Festival executive committee chairman Vinay Kumar said the committee was in discussions and needed 10 to 12 working days to confirm the festival dates before they gave a clear answer.

Mr Kumar said there were a few issues the committee needed to settle before they made an announcement.

“We’re working on it so whatever the decision is, it will happen when we make the decision.”

While many are still wondering about the actual date and venue, Mr Kumar has his fingers crossed that an announcement would be made by the end of this month.

Meanwhile, in a statement yesterday, Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar confirmed the Miss Fiji Pageant Contest 2019 will be held from November 18-23.

The event will be held at the Suva Civic Auditorium.
