COMMISSIONS of sales in properties are not regulatory at the moment in Fiji.

This was highlighted by the compliance and monitoring officer for the Real Estate Agents Licensing Board (REALB) during a talanoa session held at the Albert Park in Suva yesterday.

Mr Singh said the percentage of commission an agent received was through a mutual agreement with the property owner.

He said in the future, there would be some form of guidelines for commissions.

REALB chairperson Dr Abdul Hassan said the board had tried to regulate the commission before but this did not follow through.

“We, at the moment, do not have that regulations on commission,” Dr Hassan said.

“We have tried to attempt this earlier but nothing came out.”
