COC appoints selection panels

The Constitutional Offices Commission (COC) has appointed panels to select the Supervisor of Elections and Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) after vacancies for the post were advertised.

During the COC meeting last Friday, a decision was also made to appoint members of the Independent Committee for Remuneration and Allowances.

As per the resolutions of the meeting, former chief magistrate of Fiji Sekove Naqiolevu was appointed chairperson for the selection panel for the Supervisor of Elections position.

Other appointed members include lawyers Bhupendra Solanki and Eroni Mapa.

Mr Mapa is also a Post Fiji Pte Limited board member.

Samuela Vadei was appointed chairperson of the selection panel for the FCS Commissioner.

He is joined by lawyer Prem Narayan and Prem Singh.

Cama Raimuia was named chairperson of the Independent Committee for Remuneration and Allowances, whose other appointed members are Maxumise (Fiji) Limited managing director Salote Uluinaceva, and Vodafone Fiji Ltd CEO Elenoa Biukoto.

The COC also resolved to recommend Penijamini Lomaloma as a member of the Public Service Commission (PSC), and Alefina Vuki as a member of the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission.

The commission is also committed to a timely review of its Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) within 30 days of its circulation by the secretary.
