Coach Sewabu to test Naitasiri players

NAITASIRI Rugby Union head coach Koli Sewabu will test his player’s fitness when they meet Navy in a friendly match today.
Sewabu said the players were doing their own individual training programs after a short break.
“We had our first training run on Monday after probably two weeks of hiccups that had happened within the union, but now we’re glad that everything has been solved and we’re getting our boys back in numbers,” he said.
“We got a game against Navy tomorrow (today) and we play Nasinu on Wednesday next week, so the two games will help us see what our weaknesses are and then we will put together a strategy for our match against Namosi and Rewa.
“What happened had dampened the boy’s spirits a little so for us this week we’re regrouping, touch up on their fitness, but most importantly to the right mindset.”
He added the players had their own individual programs where their focus was on their patterns, systems and structure on what to do on the field.
The former Flying Fijian number eight is happy to be back with the team after spending one week with the Hurricanes Super Rugby team in New Zealand.
“There were restrictions put on me which was happening for a while and it got to a point where I just had enough.
“I was really blessed to spend a few days with the Hurricanes team just to learn a little bit more and try to get more on my coaching plate and I came back really refreshed.
‘I am glad our Fiji Warriors players came back after a week and a half rest and I am just happy to see the numbers.”
Sewabu thanked the chiefs for having faith in him.
