IT will be the clash of the titans when the Ravuka Sharks take on the Sigatoka Bulls in the final of the Nadroga Rugby Union (NRU) T16 competition at Lawaqa Park this evening.
Both teams finished at the top of their respective pools during the round robin stage.
The two clubs are renowned for producing many Nadroga reps who have gone on to represent the country and even secured overseas contracts.
The Sharks, based out of Yadua Village, has produced Fiji reps such as Aca Ratuva, Vula Maimuri, Mosese Volavola, Asi Mocelutu, Josaia Lotawa and Sakiusa Gavidi.
The Bulls, on the other hand, unearthed the likes of Rupeni Nasiga, Meli Kurisaru, Peni Tove and Mesake Tove, who is now playing for Clermont in France.
NRU president Tiko Matawalu said a tough and exciting affair was anticipated between the two teams. He said both clubs had featured in the club competition final previously.
“The Sharks were once the champion of the NRU club competition and also held the Kalevu Shield,” he said.
“The side is back in the final after five years. The current team has the likes of Josese Kurukavu, Jasa Veremalua and Beniamino Kalounidau, who plays for the senior Nadroga team.
“The side will include Jack Volavola and Viliame Soko, who are members of the victorious Skipper Cup under-19 Nadroga team. “The Bulls will also be laced with Nadroga reps such as Josaia Cokoibusa, Samisoni Navatu, Vilimone Bainibure, Avimeleki Naceba and Alipate Qaraniqio.
“The winner will get $1000 and the runner-up will receive $500. This will complete our 2020 season.”
The Sharks vs Bulls match will kick off at 7pm.
In the U15 grade final at 5pm, Cuvu Blues will face Sea Breeze, the U17 grade final at 6pm will see the Sharks play Sanasana.
