A TOTAL of 134 military and civil servants marched into training camp at the Black Rock in Nadi this morning for the start of a gruelling eight week pre-deployment exercise.
According to the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, 124 were the Fiji military’s infantrymen, five were from the Australian Defence Force and five were from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.
At the end of the training, the group would travel to Golan Heights under the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) for a one year mission.
While welcoming the group at Black Rock this morning, New Zealand’s Ambassador to Fiji Jonathan Curr said this was an opportunity for the military and government personnel to serve their country and to serve the cause of international peace and security.
The group is expected to be deployed at the end of August.
