FIJI-born Australian lifter Eileen Cikamatana has yet again stamped her mark in the international arena after setting a world record in Peru.

In an online report, the Australian Weightlifting Federation (AWF) announced that Cikamatana set a World Junior Record and secured two medals – a gold and a silver at the 2019 IWF Grand Prix in Lima, Peru.

AWF said Cikamatana went 5 from 6, securing 110kg on her first snatch, and 115kg on her third to secure gold.

“Eileen then went 143kg, 148kg and 151kg in the clean and jerk to set a new World Junior Record and silver in the clean and jerk, and gold in the total,” the report stated.

Cikamatana became an Australian citizen in a special ceremony at the Department of Immigration in Sydney in September this year.

She competed in her first tournament as an Australian in the Australian Senior Championships that was held in Canberra from October 19-20.

She will be competing at the IWF World Cup in Qatar in December.
