Fijian political party SODELPA will not be making any further comments in relation to the complaint by MP Mosese Bulitavu against party leader Viliame Gavoka and party general secretary Lenaitasi Duru.

Mr Duru clarified this in a statement issued this afternoon saying an officer from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) visited the party headquarters to carry out an investigation in relation to a complaint lodged by Mr Bulitavu.

“This is a normal investigation procedure and SODELPA will cooperate with authorities as required by the law,” Mr Duru said.

“The CID officer was here to carry out his work and we urge media organisations such as FBC not to sensationalise issues but to allow justice to take its course.

“SODELPA trusts the legal system and will uphold the principles of natural justice and that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

“We urge our party members and supporters not to be alarmed. This is a trivial matter and it will not derail the good work carried out this year and our preparation towards Elections 2022.”
