THE consumption of ‘yaqona’ has continued to be a problem for the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma says church president Reverand Dr Epineri Vakadewavosa.

Speaking at the church’s conference yesterday, Rev Vakadewavosa said a code of conduct was in place for those consuming yaqona.

“We respect the liberty of the people and we have encouraged them that we have a code of conduct where members are supposed to do things responsibly in terms of yaqona,” he said.

Rev Vakadewavosa also said smoking was not encouraged in the church.

“We do not encourage that because it is unhealthy.”

Meanwhile, the week-long Methodist Bose ko Viti ended today.
