The Suva City Council (SCC) will be lighting its 13-metre high Christmas tree — the tallest in Fiji — at the My Suva Picnic Park today, says SCC CEO Azam Khan.

At a media conference yesterday, Mr Khan said Christmas on the Park 2021 was going ahead with the support of Vodafone Fiji and media partner Fijian Broadcasting Corporation (FBC).

He said while Vodafone sponsored the putting up and placement of the tree, its construction was done in-house with the staff of the SCC.

Vodafone Fiji chief marketing officer Rajnesh Prasad said it was unfortunate that the 2020 program was cancelled at the last minute because of a cyclone warning, but Vodafone was happy to partner with SCC for the sixth year in a row.

FBC manger TV operations Vinal Raj said FBC TV was proud to be part of this event and they were happy to provide the coverage through their six radio stations and TV channels.

With regards to COVID-19 safety protocols, Mr Khan said SCC would manage the events in line with the framework as established by the Ministry of Health.
