China Railway fined $10k for unauthorised developments

THE China Railway First Group (Fiji) Limited was fined $10,000 for breaching the Environment Management Act 2005.
In a statement issued this afternoon, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) said Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne convicted and sentenced the company on July 27, 2018 at the Nausori Magistrates Court to a fine of $10,000 for undertaking unauthorised developments.
The company was charged with one count of undertaking unauthorised developments for constructing an asphalt plant and access road at Davuilevu , Nausori without an approved Environment Impact Assessment Report.
