CHILDREN in Fiji are losing interest in religious education and knowledge, says Minister For Waterways Dr Mahendra Reddy.

Dr Reddy made the comment during at the Brahaman Bram Bhoj function where 15 priests in the Central Division were rewarded for their dedication to the Sanatan, organised by the Nabua Sanatan Branch.

“Some of the problems that we face in our society now are children not looking after their elderly parents, children spending less and less time on acquiring religious knowledge, children losing interest in religious education and knowledge,” he said at the event, held at the Gyan Mandir in Samabula, Suva, today.

He said those were some issues that threatened a Sanatan society.

Dr Reddy said he hoped that the national body would take cue from Nabua Sanatan and have similar functions to recognise the important role of Brahmins.
