WOWS Kids Fiji launched their childhood cancer awareness month at the Tanoa Plaza Hotel in Suva on Friday, July 24.

Chief guest Mary Bainimarama said child cancer was often overlooked.

“We cannot continue to overlook childhood cancer because it is the leading cause of death worldwide,” she said.

Meanwhile, founder of WOWS Kids Fiji Taholo Kami said he was in discussion with the Ministry of Health and Medical services for the possibility of building a child cancer centre in Fiji.

August is considered Childhood Cancer Awareness month and Mr Kami said this hasn’t been an easy year.

“For many of you with children with cancer it’s a journey that does not change until there’s a hope of healing.”
