The vanua of Vitogo is beaming with pride at the recent appointment of their son to a ministerial position.

Tui Vitogo Ratu Wiliame Ratudale Sovasova said the appointment of Jese Saukuru as Minister for Youth and Sports came as no surprise because he’s a humble man who believes in hard work and purpose.

A feast was held at the chief’s traditional home of Sukanacagi on Christmas day to honour this feat.

“It is a big achievement and we the people of Vitogo are proud that one of our own sons is now a government minister,” Ratu Wiliame said.

“We worked closely together for many years even before he decided to join politics.

“He was someone who always fought for the people of Ba and the iTaukei people and now that he’s been given the Youth Minister’s post and I believe that given his calibre he will deliver.”

Ratu Wiliame said Mr Saukuru’s role would not be an easy one and he had advised him to stay true to his calling and deliver his services for the people of Fiji.

Mr Saukuru of Naviyago Village was Ba Provincial Holdings Commercial and Business Services manager before joining politics in 2018.
