The Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad should stop this constant moaning about the billions needed to fix national problems and get on with the task of fixing it.
Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry said this in his response to Prof Prasad’s ministerial statement in Parliament on Thursday that they were working frantically to address Fiji’s debt commitments, caused by the FijiFirst government’s “people pleasing” economic choice.
He said the ministerial statement failed to outline government’s proposals to resolve the issues regarding the economy.
“You (Prof Prasad) have decided to be in the hot seat. You must learn to prioritise and do the things that need to be done,” Mr Chaudhry said.
He said Prof Prasad knew what he was getting himself into when he made big promises during the election campaign.
“He (Prof Prasad) knew about the $10b debt, he knew of the huge sums to be found to fix up the nation’s vital infrastructure such as roads, water supplies and the deteriorating state of our health services.”
He said Prof Prasad knew of the previous government’s overspending and the people were depending on him to fix this problem.
