TWO new Divisional Police Commanders are ready to take up their new roles overseeing the operations of two of the busiest divisions in Fiji.

A statement by the Fiji Police Force issued today said the changes at the leadership of Divisional Commands were implemented this past week in two of the largest Policing divisions which comes into effect this week.

“The Southern Division Command sees the current Deputy Divisional Police Commander (D/DPC) South Superintendent of Police (SP) Sakeo Ganivatu take up the post of Divisional Police Commander (DPC) South while the outgoing DPC Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abdul Khan will take up his new post as the Director of Operations (DOPs),” the statement said.

“In the Western Division the change in command comes in light of the upcoming pre-retirement of the current DPC West SSP Verani Nakauyaca and assuming the role of DPC West will be Superintendent of Police Surend Sami who previously held the post of Commandant at the Fiji Police Academy.”

Meanwhile the newly appointed of Director Operations SSP Khan says he is eager to get to work and back to a familiar environment.

“A few years back I held the post of Deputy Director Operations so it’s a field I am well experienced with and am looking forward to the challenge,” SSP Khan said.

“We have great mentors within the institution that have guided us to be able to rise up the ranks and I am grateful to the Commissioner for having faith in me to take up this role,” he said.
