With the signing of a partnership between Cyber Food Fiji and South Pacific Business Development (SPBD), 7000 women entrepreneurs are now on the fast track to online sales.

Founder and director of Cyber Food Majid Shahzad said, “This initiative aims to provide a platform where these talented individuals can showcase their products and reach a wider customer base.”

“At CyberFood, we firmly believe in the potential of women entrepreneurs to drive economic growth and uplift their communities,” Mr Shahzad said.

“By offering our online services free of charge to all SPBD members, we aim to eliminate barriers and provide equal opportunities for the women to thrive.”

Director and general manager of SPBD Elrico Muñoz said the collaboration amplified the work of SPBD by providing the organisation members with a secure platform to sell their products online.

“Imagine the impact,” Mr Muñoz said.

“Women who may have previously had their goods seen by a few dozen people in a local market will now have their products available to thousands online.”

“Partnering with CyberFood, a company with a proven secure platform adds an extra layer of safety for our women entrepreneurs,” he said.

Officiating the event, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, MSMEs and Communications Manoa Kamikamica expressed his concern for the digital divide among MSMEs.

“The MoU that is being executed today addresses closing the divide by connecting homemade and micro entrepreneurs with customers that are fond of or interested in homemade, locally produced food or products,” he said.

The Cyber Food platform now has a dedicated page for SPBD member products. The initiative is being piloted in Suva and will expand nationwide.
