DEFENDING champion of the Vodafone Fiji Primary Schools Football Championship Seaqaqa wants to take the title back to the North for another year.
The side started its campaign with a 2-2 draw against Rakiraki at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
Team official Vilash Nath said hopes were high in the team.
“Our players were not fully prepared for their first match as we try and defend the title and make sure the trophy goes back with us,” he said.
“There are a lot of pressure on us to perform as the other teams are also coming prepared.
“The competition is tough since we did not take part in the Inter-District Championship but we are trying our best.
“We were not given any confirmation for the tournament though Labasa took part.”
Utility Tufeal Khan and Malakai Arbaaz scored the goals for their side.
“We have faced a lot of difficulties since most of the players are from interior of Seaqaqa and we do not train like schools do in Central Division,” he added.
“The approval also has to be taken from the Ministry of Education.
“The teachers have paid $100 for travelling and students pay $60 per player leaving aside accommodation and meals.
“We have spent about $3000 on the tournament.”
The competition ends tomorrow.
