Cessna 172: Family ask for care
28 February, 2018, 2:10 pm
Update: 2:10PM PLEASE consider the ordeal that families of the two aviators missing since Monday may be going through, before you post on social media.
Ulamila Lutu, the older sister of missing trainee pilot Merelesita Lutu, 21 this morning called for consideration as the Tamavua family wait for word on the fate of their youngest sibling.
Ms Lutu said the family had cocooned themselves away from social media preferring only to receive information gleaned from two media sources by a family member who is a senior civil servant.
Ms Lutu however said many people had sent them messages of support, had come to their Tamavua home to pray with them and had filled their house with song adding it had helped them over the past few days.
“We are strong in our faith and remain positive,” she said.
Before news that wreckage had been found at midday today, the family had yet to hear from search and rescue authorities about operations to recover the Cessna 172 aircraft crewed by Merelesita and her instructor Iliesa Tawalo.
The two went missing over the Delaikoro mountain range bordering Macuata and Cakaudrove on Vanua Levu during a routine training flight.
