TEAMS competing in the 2017 Inkk Battle of the Giants tournament in Labasa this weekend have the same chance of qualifying into the finals, says Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf.
He said all teams were evenly matched, so people should be expecting a very exciting and competitive tournament.
Yusuf said teams such as Labasa, Nadi, Suva, Ba, Lautoka and defending 2017 Fiji FACT champion Rewa, had the potential to win the tournament.
“Maybe Rakiraki and Dreketi may need time to catch up, but everybody else can win this tournament,” Yusuf said.
He said Lautoka would be the current favourites, but other teams had improved and Rewa was a testament of that improvement by winning the Vodafone Fiji FACT last month.
“In the ranking, Lautoka is all the way up there, but the next of any of the five teams can beat them. It is very competitive.”
He said the competitive spirit of the teams indicated the growth and improvement in the development of the game.
“It has resulted in the attraction of more crowd and fans to the grounds during games.”
The tournament starts at Subrail Park tomorrow.
