It is essential that consumers recognise and are reassured that not only is Fiji the best destination, but also the safest when our borders fully reopen, says Minister for Commerce, Tourism, Trade and Transport, Faiyaz Koya.

He launched the Care Fiji Commitment program today with Tourism Fiji, which is expected to play a significant role in Tourism Fiji’s market re-entry plans.

The program is designed to reassure travellers that Fiji is a safe destination to visit on their next holiday.

Mr Koya said when the borders reopen, the visitor expectation would change dramatically.

“What was once at our advantage may no longer be. While relaxing in a tropical getaway might still be on visitors’ minds, they will also be searching for a destination that has best practice COVID-19 containment measures. In other words, they will be seeking reassurance that their holiday destination is a safe place to travel,” he said.

“The Care Fiji Commitment is our obligation to the health and safety of everyone who lives and travels to Fiji. We are working together as one, across the tourism and health sectors, to fight COVID with a number of measures that help us to adapt to a new normal and get us ready to welcome international travellers back,” said Mr Koya.
