THE Fiji Car Club is looking for a piece of land to build a racing track.
Club president Raizal Haniff said club officials were looking for a land as soon as possible for the members to race.
“We need to have a track of our own since the Fiji Car Club is getting very popular among fans and drivers,” he said.
The club received a sponsorship of $120,000 from Pacific Energy to host the races for the next two years. Haniff said the sponsorship money would be mostly used for the hosting of the races.
“We do not want to go back and renew our lease. We will apply for the Government’s assistance and hopefully we could meet with the concerned ministry and talk on the issues,” he said.
“We did not have any race for sevens and it led to a lot of illegal road races and it is a blessing for us to get a lease and run the races.”
Meanwhile, Vicky Nath won the first race of the year last Sunday at Nanuku Aerodrome near Pacific Harbour
