A WOMAN in her 40s died after the vehicle she was travelling in hit an electric post along Yalalevu in Ba yesterday afternoon, according to Police.
Police say the victim, who was a Canadian citizen, was a passenger with two others in a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old man of Tavarua, Ba.
It is alleged the suspect collided with an oncoming vehicle while trying to overtake a minibus, and the impact resulted in the vehicle veering off the road and hitting the electric post.
The victim allegedly died at the scene.
The driver was treated and released and will be questioned soon, while the two passengers are admitted at the Lautoka Hospital and are under observation.
Police investigations continue.
Tthe road death toll stands at 65 compared to 62 for the same period last year.
