WE live among global giants and there are hostilities within the global economic conditions whereby imposed tariffs and rules continue to create and challenge our small island economies.

These were the sentiments echoed by Papua New Guinea’s Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill during the Fiji-PNG Business Council luncheon at Grand Pacific Hotel yesterday.

Mr O’Neill added we face many challenges in terms of our global economy especially in areas where free trade is under pressure but we have to overcome these obstacles that we have before us.

“We have to work together both Fiji and PNG to secure a more free and open trading environment within our region,” Mr O’Neill said.

‘We may be small in population size but as countries in the region we got strength in the numbers that we have by working together we can expand the trade and investment opportunities that are there.”
