WITH the opening of the newly revamped Labasa Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) office, taxpayers have been urged to voluntarily comply with their tax obligations FRCS chief executive officer Visvanath Das said they intended to build a healthy relationship with their customers.
Mr Das said they were constantly reviewing their tax and Customs legislation and processes for ease of doing business in Fiji.
“While we put you as our focus, create the environment for ease of doing business and voluntary compliance, we do so with much trust and confidence in you,” he said.
“Thus I would like to take this opportunity to remind you all of your responsibilities and obligations under the tax laws.”
“Many of you also engage accountants and tax agents to ensure you are compliant, however, you maybe sometimes ill-advised.
“We request the tax agents to follow proper procedure while filing tax returns on behalf of their clients.”
