Tabadamu 7s founder and former Fiji national rep Setefano Cakau, deemed day one of the 2nd Fiji Bitter Tabadamu 7s a success after a total of 70 teams in both men’s and under-21 divisions completed their pool games yesterday.

Fans arrived in numbers yesterday at the Lawaqa Park to support their teams as they battled out on the Sigatoka turf.

“Today is a complete success. We had quite a large number of fans who turned out here today to support their team,” Cakau shared.

Cakau said he was pleased to see small teams stand up to giant teams that were placed in their same pool.

“There is a lot of raw talent in abundance here in Fiji and if there were overseas scouts here, for sure there will be boys going overseas.”

Since the first Tabadamu 7s in 2013, Cakau said the competition has grown over the years. “Since we first started, there were only a few teams playing. Today we have 70 teams playing, men’s and under-21.” For the former 7s star, he deemed Police Blue, Army Red, and Warden Gold as teams to look out for today as they head into the elimination rounds.

“Police Blue has been playing very well during their pools with Army Green and Red as well. But we can’t leave out smaller teams like Nakavu as they have also been making upsets in their pools.” Cakau encouraged fans and supporters to once more come out in numbers to support their teams at Lawaqa Park today.

“Come out and support your boys, I believe today will be a very exciting one and I can’t wait for us to get started.”
