Inspectors from the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF) flew to Kadavu yesterday to investigate an incident where a Pacific Flying School Cessna 172 plane went off the runway while landing at the Vunisea Airport.

Pacific Flying School director Tim Joyce said no injuries were sustained by the trainer or the two trainee pilots.

“I can confirm there was a landing incident and the plane went just off the runway,” he said.

“They were down there for training purposes,” he said.

Mr Joyce said they had informed CAAF, as required by the law.

Fiji Airports (FA) confirmed the Cessna 172 aircraft veered off the runway.

“There were no injuries, however, the aircraft sustained damages,” said a spokesperson.

FA said the incident had been reported to CAAF for further investigation.
