WITH an aim to increase voters and citizens’ knowledge of their constitutional rights and on elections, the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) launched the “UPHOLDING Citizen’s constitutional rights for Democratic Consolidation in Fiji” (C3) project in Suva yesterday.
International IDEA’s country program manager Fiji, Adhy Aman said the program focuses on enhancing the capacity of civil society organisations relationship with relevant state bodies.
“The focus is on enhancing capacity of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to interact with state institutions and for that, people will also have an understanding of their constitutional rights in Fiji,” he said.
Mr Aman added the key outputs of the C3 project included public awareness on constitutional rights and election.
“The first output involves means to increase public awareness on constitutional rights.”
“As the project starts during election year here in Fiji, therefore, some focus of the activities will be based on election,” he said.
