Businessman farewelled

HE fulfilled his obligations expected of a kind and caring husband, father and grandfather.

These were the words of National Federation Party (NFP) president Pio Tikoduadua as he bade farewell to one of the country’s prominent businessmen and philanthropist Giyananand Naidu commonly known as G.Naidu.

Speaking on behalf of NFP leader Dr Biman Prasad at a memorial service in Lautoka yesterday, Mr Tikoduadua said the Mr Naidu was exemplified to human commitment to family, social work, religion and work during his lifetime.

“He wasn’t a glory seeker but through his commendable deeds always ensured that the self-respect and dignity of the ordinary people should always be upheld,” he said.

“Mr G.Naidu never shirked his values and commitment for truth, justice and righteousness.

“As a family person, Mr G.Naidu fulfilled his obligations expected of a kind and caring husband, father and grandfather who put the welfare and interest of his family at the forefront.

“As a social and community worker, his dedication and commitment to the ideals of Sangam, the upkeep and restoration of the Girmit Centre to ensure the protection of the heritage and legacy of our forefathers, as well as to the principles of accountability, transparency and adherence to the rule of law was exemplary.”

Mr Naidu, who was the director for finance and property of the Reddy Group until his untimely passing on Monday was also remembered by his colleagues.

Tanoa Hotel Group area general manager Narend Kumar said Mr Naidu was a very senior and respected member of the Reddy Group.

“He dedicated his entire life to serving the company,” said Mr Kumar who spoke on behalf of Reddy Group chairman YP Reddy.

“The impact that he has had on the lives of our staff is immense and unforgettable.

“He respected his staff regardless of age, position or status.

“He will be sorely missed by each and every one of us.”

Mr Naidu was laid to rest in Auckland, New Zealand yesterday.
