BUSINESS in Ba Town is somewhat sluggish in the first week of the year.

However, shop owners anticipate a flurry of activity before school starts on January 14.

As such, businesses have started to prepare for their student clientele. Among the shops getting ready for the busy season is N Chand Tailors, a clothing shop in operation for more than a decade. Run by a husband and wife team, the shop is a popular option for those getting their school uniforms sewn.

“We have been in the business for almost 15 years and while this is a slow period, we expect more people to come in the coming weeks,” shop owner Narend Chand said.

His wife Rita Devi said they had already begun receiving orders for school uniforms.

“It gets really busy for us just before school starts and there are students coming in to get their uniforms sewn,” she said.

“With the orders we have, we need to sew 12 to 14 uniforms each day.”
