A TEMPORARY bus service will run through Tavarau settlement in Lautoka following pleas from residents who have faced transportation difficulties for a number of years.
This was an order by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama after concerns were raised by residents during an informal meeting in Lautoka last week.
Tavarau settlement advisory councillor Janendra Kumar said a bus company had been servicing two rural roads within the area but was abruptly stopped by the Land Transport Authority.
“Schoolchildren have to walk about two kilometres to get to the main road and wait for a bus to take them to school,” Mr Kumar said
