The COVID-19 Response Budget was timely and it gives hope to all citizens of Fiji.

Those were the words of Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Dr Ram Raju responding to the COVID-19 Budget announced by the Minister for Economy and Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum on Thursday.

“We are all well aware of the most devastating, unprecedented and unimaginable crisis facing mankind today, world over, affecting the most developed to the least developed country, by this pandemic of COVID 19,” said Dr Raju.

“World’s economy is grinding to a halt and whilst the most developed or first world countries are able to inject billions of dollars into their citizens to keep afloat their livelihoods amidst this pandemic , the most vulnerable countries like Fiji, is somewhat unlucky,” he added.

Dr Raju said Fiji can fight though this hard times if everyone rises to the occasion.

“Yes we can provided everyone plays their role responsibly. It’s a testing time for all of us and I’m sure we can rise to the occasion, like we have always done after many natural disasters that we all know about and experienced.”
