SUVA-BASED Covenant Brothers will be fielding a young team in the 2017 Huawei Raka 7s which will be played from tomorrow at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
The side is coached by former Fiji 7s captain Osea Kolinisau’s elder brother Koro Kolinisau.
Team manager Tubola Waqalevu said there were more players of Osea Kolinisau’s capability who need to be guided in the right path.
“We have a bunch of new players who just left school and we are hoping with their speed and the knowledge will boost the team,” he said.
“We are expecting a good result from the current team in the Raka 7s.”
The side will depend on Misa Petero who will play at rover for the team with Nemani Buliruarua at half back and Joe Tako at prop.
Waqalevu said the tournament would be hard since all the teams wanted to win the biggest prizemoney in the domestic tournament.
“The players are capable of winning the tournament with the hard work and determination to win just like Oscar used to tell the players when he was here as he always used to motivate and encourage him,” he said.
“The players will showcase their talent in the two-day tournament.”
The tournament will be played from November 24-25.
The winner in the men’s category will get $35,000.
