THE future of the Suva district team looks bright as Suva won the 2016 Vodafone Fiji Primary Schools Football Championship yesterday at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
Suva had been criticised by the locals for not developing football however, Suva Primary Schools Football Association president Adrian Kumar says things would change now.
“The main thing is our primary school competition is not supported by many people and very little they know that these players would be the stars for Suva district team in years to come,” he added. “If there are further development then these players can make it to the national team.”
Suva defeated neighbours Rewa 1-0 in the final with a goal from Senitiki Musora.
“I have been the president of Suva Primary for the past three years and to my knowledge Suva had never won the IDC and it is the first time,” he added.
“I was pleased with the disciplined football played. There was a lot of teamwork which gave us the win.”
The winning goal scorer Musora said he was proud of the achievement.
“It feels so good to score the winning goal and we all worked together so it was a team goal,” he said.
“We created opportunities and we managed to score. When I saw the ball I told myself to be strong and run for the ball and score.
“I do not have a favourite team or any particular player but I am a big fan of Manchester United and of Paul Pogba. I played alongside my brother Daniel Musora.”
