BUKA — The Papua New Guinea Government’s efforts on Bougainville, and related issues came under the spotlight after a week-long visit by the Parliamentary Bi-Partisan Committee on Bougainville Matters. Headed by chairman, Southern Highlands Governor William Powi, the committee carried out assessments and held consultations with all sectors and community representatives.

Direct flights

APIA – The relationship between China and Samoa continues to grow from strength to strength. And with the signing of an Air Service Agreement (ASA) between the two nations on Monday for direct flights between Beijing and Faleolo, the relationship is bound to become stronger.

Pension rise

ALOFI: The premier of Niue has told the islanders that their country is debt free and this is why pensions are getting a nearly 10 per cent lift. The island is now debt free and can afford to increase fortnightly pensions from $US250 ($F516) to $US272 ($F563) Toke Talagi said.
