Labasa women’s coach Roneel Ram received a perfect gift from his players on his birthday. They defeated Dreketi 20-0 in the Vodafone Women’s League last Saturday
He was also surprised with a birthday cake after the match. The Labasa women’s team is currently top of the Vodafone Women’s League in the North.
The Suva U19 Youth team have sent a strong warning to other teams in the Viti Levu zone after they defeated Tailevu Naitasiri 3-1 in the Vodafone Youth League last Saturday.
President Ritesh Pratap said they were very committed to the development of football in the district.
He said the U19 boys were now training under coach Rivaz Ali with the main team. We have regrouped and are taking the competition seriously,” Pratap said.
He said they were aiming to win the title for the first time this year. The U19 Suva youth side also participated as a club team under Civic FC in the Suva FA local competition.
Fiji Football Association vice-president Susan Wise was overwhelmed with the interest shown by the girls participating in the Vodafone U16 Girls League.
“It is good to see some new faces in some teams which shows the interest the sport is generating,” Wise said.
She said this was because of the performance of the Vodafone U16 Girls’ team in the OFC Championship last year.
Fiji FA is very much committed in development of women’s football in the country.
Wise said overall the Vodafone U16 Girls League was growing stronger.
“We can see some teams have new players who never played football but they really played well.”
Nasinu Football Association officials have a motto this year “Forward we march together”.
They had their motto written on their official T-Shirts. Once tagged “Giant Killers” Nasinu is trying to make a return to the top level of football with new set of officials this year.
They are currently unbeaten in the Vodafone Senior League Viti Levu zone after three rounds but Lami lead the standing with better goal advantage.
Fiji Football referees tested their new communication kits during the Lami vs Navua match last Sunday at Fiji FA Academy ground in Vatuwaqa. Referees director Rakesh Varman said it all went well in the game with the five officials communicating with each other.
