Rebels quit

BEIRUT – Syrian rebels left one besieged enclave on Friday and agreed to abandon another, leaving only the city of Douma still in insurgent hands in eastern Ghouta after a month-long army assault to drive them from the stronghold near Damascus.

14 dead

LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan – A car bomb killed 14 people and wounded dozens more who had gathered to watch a wrestling match in southern Afghanistan on Friday, officials said. The attack underlined the continued threat of violence across much of Afghanistan with the approach of spring, when fighting tends to pick up.

155 targeted

ISTANBUL – Turkish authorities began rounding up 155 suspected followers of the cleric Fethullah Gulen on Friday, police and media said. Ankara accuses Mr Gulen, who lives in the United States, of masterminding a failed coup in July 2016, a claim he denies. Since the coup attempt, the authorities have arrested thousands of his suspected followers and fired thousands more.
